As some of you know I had a short stint working as a promoter at Parkson Melaka Mall. Parkson was having a warehouse sale and they needed many extra hands so I thought why not? I applied through the Outfitters Studio, a clothing store. Don't need the boring details bout my interview. I started work on the 25th of January and finished on the 8th of February and I sold clothing from the brand Snails Original(I've noticed many clothing lines have animal names e.g. cheetah, camel, crocodile, what gives?)
Instead of telling my day to day experiences I'd rather share a few interesting moments. Some sweet and some bitter.
1. A customer comes up to me and starts talking in chinese. So I say i don't know chinese. He looks at me for awhile and asks me what is my name. Johannan. What is my surname? Sim. ''Chinese dunno chinese ah? No FUTURE!'' pissing isn't it(there were many incidents like this where racists just could not accept the fact that i could not speak chinese but this was the most distinct of all la)
2. I see a young girl bout maybe 5 or 6 years old running around and grabbing smaller kids she did not know(not grab by the hand but like really wrestling type of grabbing). Her parents didn't seem to be very bothered even when she ran off out of their sight. Trying to be a good employee I followed her while my co-worker informed her parents. As I was looking for her a younger girl bout maybe 2 or 3 years old came from around a corner crying her lungs out and ran to her mother. The mother was like asking why why what happened and lo and behold she points in my direction!!! All the workers around there went like 'ah, johannan buat budak nangis!' shocked i look behind me and there is that wrestler girl peeping from around the corner. i point to her to try and defend myself but when i look back again shes gone...so from then on some of my co-workers call me 'make baby cry'(the parents of the girl who cried luckily were very understanding and let me explain myself later but as for the wrestler girl's parents they just act like nothing happened and bring her home!!!)
3. One male customer comes by my bin carrying a baby. He looks at what i'm selling and feels like trying some on. He releases his baby carrying thingi and takes his baby and says to me 'nah pegang'. Needless to say it was a very akward moment.
4. Our whole day is filled with the same music being played over and over again due to the deejay not feeling bored of listening to the same freaking music for 15 days, so sometimes i dance or move to the rhythm of the song and one of the songs that kept playing over and over again is that annoying mickey mouse song. 'oh mickey you're so fine you're so something something hey mickey' so sometimes i would be doing some random dance move to amuse myself and my co-workers. problem is the occasional customer would sometimes get a chance to see me in action haha...i think there were two. one man's mouth hung open watching me, another woman came up to me and said 'very nice!' haha...she came back the next day and asked me 'no dancing today?' maybe she came back to see me dance again haha(perasan) :)
5. chief minister of melaka came and sat nearby when i was eating. maybe nothing special to some people but for me its kinda cool to see a bigshot you always see on tv so nearby :0
there are probably a few more interesting moments but really work has been a fun experience throughout. a big shout out to my fellow co-workers who helped make the job much less boring and stressful(its like war on weekends). thank God for sustaining me throughout my work experience and helping me see many sides of people i have never seen before, to learn and accept people as they are, to learn not to judge people just because they are different and to remember He loves every single person that i came across. forgive me God if i did not heed your call at work and thank you for giving me a chance to earn so money as well ;)
